The WGM110 is an 802.11b/g/n compliant, fully integrated, plug-and-play Wi-Fi module that delivers superior radio frequency (RF) performance, optimal module size at the same level, easy application development, and faster time to market time. Optimized for powerful Wi-Fi connectivity, the WGM110 is an ideal pre-certification solution for adding Wi-Fi capabilities to a wide range of Internet of Things (IoT) applications without the need for external microcontrollers, complex networking infrastructure or specialized hubs. Mouser's stocked Silicon Labs WGM110 Wi-Fi module acts as a Wi-Fi client or access point, making device management as easy as surfing the Internet. The module is equipped with a high-performance 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n transceiver, an embedded Wi-Fi protocol stack, an HTTP server and a variety of Internet protocols including TCP and UDP with TLS security. The module supports -98 dBM receive (RX) sensitivity and +16 dBm transmit (TX) power. All of these features enable the WGM110 to achieve long-range connections from 300 to 500 m (typical). The module also provides a highly flexible hardware interface, including UART, I2C, SPI, and USB, to help simplify connectivity to a variety of peripherals and sensors.
At the heart of the WGM110 module is an ultra-low-power EFM32 Gecko microcontroller with a 48 MHz ARM® Cortex®-M3 core, 1MB of flash memory and 128KB of RAM. The WGM110 runs in Silicon Labs' BGScriptTM scripting language, a high-performance language that supports stand-alone design and autonomous execution of applications on modules, and simplifies TCP when running in Network Co-Processor (NCP) mode. The complexity of the /IP network allows the host controller to be fully used to handle client application tasks. In addition, WGM110's powerful Wi-Fi protocol stack includes HTTP/TLS/TCP/IP protocols for cloud integration, while the software API is compatible with Silicon Labs' existing WF121 modules for easy porting.
Mouser also offers Silicon Labs' SLWSTK6120A Wireless Starter Kit, which provides a complete development platform for the WGM110 Wi-Fi module. The SLWSTK6120A kit includes: a motherboard with a J-Link debugger, virtual COM port, LCD display; a radio board with integrated WGM110 module; and an expansion board with a three-axis accelerometer, joystick and I2C expansion.
