In answer to the question of whether PSVR needs to operate in a dark room, Sony explained that only certain light will affect the operation of the device. Sony wrote in the blog:

Environmental lighting does not generally affect the operation of the PSVR. The bright light source directly from behind the PSVR user, as well as reflections from the windows, indoor lights and mirrors, may interfere with the PS Camera and affect the tracking of the LED light source in the headlight. We recommend removing the bright light source behind PSVR players. ”

This means that you need to move the bulb and pull the curtains down to prevent the light source behind the PSVR head from interfering with the device's tracking function. This will not cause much impact, but reflective objects do cause you trouble. Sony wrote about this:

The PS Camera can only cover a group of light-emitting diodes that can be tracked. A mirror located within the PS Camera tracking range can confuse tracking performance. Brighter surfaces with smaller areas are generally not a problem, but if you find problems with traceability, this may be the cause of the problem.
