TI's DaVinciTM technology is a set of DSP-based system solutions designed for efficient and compelling digital video – for digital video cameras, video security devices, advanced medical imaging devices, portable video players Or other video applications. This system is optimized for flexible digital video implementations with industry-leading performance and integrated programmable digital signal processor (DSP) cores, ARM processors, and video acceleration coprocessors. With efficient processing power, memory, I/O bandwidth, balanced internal interconnects, and a combination of dedicated peripherals, DaVinci technology-based SoCs provide the ideal core power for video applications at the lowest cost.

An Introduction

Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) and Digital Video Servers (SVRs) are devices for video surveillance. The DVR/SVR takes analog video signals from multiple analog surveillance cameras and digitizes them. The processing engine encodes the video stream in a digital format such as H.264, Motion JPEG, MPEG-4, or a dedicated codec.

· The DVR is used to store and view this video stream locally. SVR sends encoded video to a large secure network by using the TCP/IP protocol. The higher performance digital video recorder DVR/SVR also features analysis capabilities that allow automatic motion monitoring, virtual wall crossing and more.

· DVR and SVR are used to upgrade existing security systems based on analog surveillance cameras. Instead of a tape-based VCR, DVR/SVR automates the storage of monitoring data and allows remote access to monitoring installations over a TCP/IP network. DVR/SVRs typically have 4, 8 or 16 input channels. For further integration, the channel count will increase to 32, 64 and higher.

TI's eXpressDSP Linux DVSDK allows system integrators to adopt discrete software modules and combine them into a single executable output of the system, eliminating the monotony of manual integration for months. This simplification makes it easy to reuse code by simplifying the creation of codec custom packages for specific applications. The DVSDK contains:

· TI's HD MPEG-4, H.264 and JPEG and G.711 product codecs

· Custom codec that complies with TI's eXpressDSP digital media (xDM) algorithm standard

· Multimedia API and codec engine framework

· Demo version of MontaVista Linux Pro 5.0

· Drivers for UART, I2C, SPI, EDMA, EMAC, NAND, MMC, SD card, USB host/gadget, RTC, HPI and voice codec

· Video Processing Subsystem (display, capture, CCD controller, adjuster, previewer)

· OSS Audio (ASP), GPIO, PWM, WDTIM

· U-boot loader

The TMX320DM365 Digital Video Evaluation Module (DVEVM) allows developers to immediately begin evaluation of DaVinciTM processors and begin building digital video applications such as IP surveillance cameras, digital photo frames, digital signage, video doorbells and portable digital video products that have not yet been invented.

The Digital Video Evaluation Module (DVEVM) allows developers to immediately write application code for ARM and access the HMJCP coprocessor core using the DaVinci API to immediately begin application development for the TMS320DM365 digital media processor.

It is recommended to produce the Digital Video Software Package (DVSPB) MontaVista Linux companion product.

The DM365 DVEVM includes the following devices:

· Development board based on TMX320DM365 DaVinciTM processor

· IR remote control

· 2GB NAND flash

· Video capture of NTSC or PAL signals via HD component and SD composite video/S-video

· NTSC or PAL output via HD component and SD composite video/S-video

· Other features such as microphone input, headphone output, linear input and linear output, UART, USB 2.0 HS, 2GB NAND flash and JTAG for testing

· Beta version: Linux Support Package Software Development Kit (LSP SDK) is available in the kit, which can be downloaded from the website TI eXpressDSPTM Linux DVSDK

· MontaVista Pro presentation tool
