Toyota Synthetic develops next-generation LED products

Recently, Toyota Gosei has successfully developed a next-generation LED product with a brightness of 6,000 to 12,000 lumens, which is three times that of current products. It will easily produce LED lighting products with brightness comparable to mercury lamps. According to reports, Toyota Synthetic's LED products use gallium nitride (GaN) as the substrate material, the length and width are only 1mm, the thickness of the GaN substrate is only a few hundred μm, and the brightness of each LED is about 400 lumens.
In order to avoid price competition with Taiwan and South Korea, Toyota's LED business is mainly focused on small/high-performance LED products used in mobile phones and laptops. However, due to the recent pursuit of Taiwanese and Korean manufacturers, price competition is increasing. Fierce, Toyota Synthetic intends to get rid of the pursuit of Taiwanese and Korean manufacturers by using the above-mentioned LED products using GaN as a substrate. According to the Nikkei report, the material price of GaN substrates is about three times that of sapphire substrates, so the cost is still the biggest issue for Toyota Synthesizer to mass produce the above GaN LEDs.
Toyota Synthetic is a partner of Taiwan Jingdian. In addition to the mutual licensing agreement with Jingdian, it also established a joint venture in Taiwan with Jingdian and Toyota Synthetic Taiwan agent Twin Hill in late 2010. Responsible for LED research and development, production and sales.
