North American equipment orders fell slightly in January

SEMI has announced a report on the shipment ratio of semiconductor equipment manufacturers in North America in January 2011. According to the three-month moving average statistics, the orders for semiconductor equipment manufacturers in North America in January were US$1.54 billion, and the order shipping ratio was 0.85. The order-to-order ratio of 0.85 means that for every $100 worth of products shipped this month, orders worth $85 will be available.

The report shows that the 1.45 billion U.S. dollar order amount in January was 2.9% lower than the final figure of 1.58 billion U.S. dollars in December last year, an increase of 30.3% from the final figure of 1.18 billion U.S. dollars in January 2010.

At the same time, North American semiconductor equipment makers shipped US$1.8 billion in January 2011, an increase of 2.5% from the December final of US$1.76 billion and an increase of 88% from the US$957.6 million of final value in January 2010.
