In 2017, the photovoltaic (PV) industry delivered impressive results, showcasing its rapid growth and increasing importance in China's energy landscape. According to data released by the National Energy Administration, the country added 53.06 million kilowatts of new PV capacity, making it the top renewable energy source in terms of growth. By the end of the year, total installed PV capacity reached 130 million kilowatts, marking a significant milestone in China’s clean energy transition.
One of the most encouraging developments was the improvement in curtailment rates, with the rate of unused solar power dropping by 3.8 percentage points. This reflects better grid integration and more efficient management of solar resources. As a result, PV has become a key player in both domestic energy transformation and global climate action, positioning China as a leader in the international clean energy arena.
With the upcoming two sessions, representatives from across the country have already started proposing initiatives to further support the PV industry. These proposals include accelerating the sustainable development of PV, promoting solar poverty alleviation programs, optimizing the planning of PV projects, establishing pilot markets for distributed generation, and simplifying approval processes to boost industry growth.
Experts are optimistic about the future of PV in 2018. Hong Jiajin, Director of the Zhenghong Optoelectronics Poverty Alleviation Project, emphasized the need for policy support that encourages technological innovation and practical applications. He suggested that local governments should enhance their efforts in financing and coordinating poverty alleviation projects to ensure timely and quality delivery.
Dr. Yang Liyou, General Manager of Jinneng Science and Technology, highlighted the importance of reducing non-technical costs to make solar power more competitive globally. While China leads the world in the entire PV supply chain, he believes there is still room for improvement in cost efficiency.
Technology remains at the core of PV development. Zhuang Yinghong, Director of Global Marketing at Oriental Sunrise, predicted continued growth in 2018, with new products and technologies driving down costs and improving efficiency. Wang Dong, General Manager of Zhengxin Optoelectronics Technology Quality, noted that advancements like double-sided panels, multi-busbar technology, and PERC cells will play a major role in the coming years.
Distributed PV is expected to remain a hot topic. Zhuang Yinghong pointed out that despite challenges such as limited awareness and structural requirements, the sector continues to grow rapidly. Companies like Oriental Sunrise are investing in dedicated teams to provide comprehensive solutions for distributed projects, including design, installation, and maintenance.
Liu Yujun, Vice President of Zhengzheng Optoelectronics, also sees strong potential in distributed generation, especially as urbanization accelerates and electricity demand rises. However, he noted that unclear standards and weak management systems among smaller companies pose obstacles to widespread adoption.
Looking ahead, PV companies are expanding into new markets and technologies. Oriental Risheng has introduced high-efficiency half-cell modules, while Zhengxin Optoelectronics is focusing on household distributed systems and collaborating with State Grid Mall to scale up applications. Jinneng Technology is also exploring overseas markets, launching advanced components like PERC and HJT to meet global energy demands.
As the industry matures, the focus remains on lowering costs, improving efficiency, and supporting long-term sustainability. With continued innovation and policy support, the future of photovoltaics looks bright.
High Voltage Capacitor Charging Power Supplies
High Voltage Capacitor Charging is a mainstream application of high-current high-voltage power supplies. The High-voltage Capacitor Charging power supplies are a kind of high-voltage DC Power Supplies specially designed to meet the requirements of capacitor charging or capacitor conditioning.
At present, iDealTek-Electronics' high-voltage capacitor charging power supplies are IGBT-based switching mode High Voltage Power Supplies. Compared with the traditional linear high-voltage power supplies, the switched-type capacitor charging high-voltage power supplies are featured for higher power density, higher efficiency, higher output response speed and faster protection start and self-recovery speed.
iDealTek-Electronics originally produced linear capacitor charging high-voltage power supplies. Based on years of experience in the capacitor industry, our current capacitor charging high voltage power supplies use 19-inch standard racks, 4U and 6U chassis, which facilitate the installation of integrated capacitor charging systems. The output power ranges from 2KW to 10KW with output voltage levels at 5KV / 10KV / 20KV / 30KV / 35KV / 40KV / 50KV / 60KV / 100KV with a complete protection function, which can deal with overvoltage, overcurrent, load discharge and other situations.
The output voltage and current of the power supply can be controlled and read through the front operation panel of the power supply. And, this series of high voltage capacitor charging power supplies are also equipped with RS485 / DB15 / DB50 interfaces as standard. Customers can edit the control software according to our communication protocol or apply 0-10V signals and dry contact signals on the interface according to the definition of the analog interface to achieve full control and monitoring of the power supply, such as high voltage start/stop, output settings and readings.
