China TV panel self-sufficiency rate is expected to be 30.1% in 2013

According to recent statistics, in view of the fact that China’s major high-generation production lines are currently operating at full capacity, the self-sufficiency rate of TV panels in China is expected to reach approximately 30.1% in the next year.

It is reported that in the 30.1% self-sufficiency rate, China Star Broadcasting Co., Ltd. occupies 16%, BOE accounts for 12% and China Electron Panda only 2%. Among them, the full production capacity of Huaxing Optoelectronics 8.5 generation line will be available for the television field. Therefore, Huaxing Broadcasting & Television will become the second largest supplier in the domestic TV panel market. The first is Chi Mei, and the third is LGD.

Qunzhi Consultation and Evaluation believes that the purchase volume of domestic color TV brands in 2013 will reach 53.554 million, an increase of 9.2% year-on-year in 2012. From the perspective of the planned supply of panel makers to the Chinese market, it can reach about 60 million pieces, and the overall supply is relatively sufficient, but the structural supply shortage will remain prominent.

First of all, from the demand side, on the one hand, in 2013, with the overall macroeconomic stabilization and recovery, market demand will also show modest growth. On the other hand, domestic brands actively promote the upgrading of product structure, and the proportion of demand for high-end products will gradually increase. It is estimated that the proportion of branded 3D and smart TV shipments in 2013 will reach 58.2% and 59.7% respectively. Thirdly, the active input of the industry chain to the development and promotion of ultra-large size and ultra-high definition products will also gradually show market effects in 2013. Oversized and ultra high definition products will become the new demand growth point for the Chinese flat panel TV market in 2013.

From the supply side, first, because the panel factory actively adjusts the production capacity distribution structure, and new sizes, new processes, and new products are frequently launched, the product structure adjustment and layout of the entire plant form a test. Secondly, the panel makers will be more dispersed in next year's product lines. According to Quzheng Consulting's survey, the major panel makers in 2013 will deploy oversized products with more than 10 specifications. The resulting production capacity and profit loss also deserve further attention. . Third, in 2013, major panel makers focused on improving profitability, and will also make some adjustments in the supply structure, or they will create gaps in supply and demand.

In terms of supply structure, Qunzhi Consulting's data shows that as of October, the cumulative self-sufficiency rate for domestic TV panels was 20.1%, and it is expected to reach 23.2% for the whole year. However, as China will not add high-generation panel production capacity in 2013, the increase in supply will mainly depend on the increase in capacity utilization.
