Ma Yun recaptures the throne of the richest man: China's richest man changes three times a day

People who enjoy eating melons are always curious about rankings, especially when it comes to the wealthiest individuals. Interestingly, China's richest man made three major changes in a single day yesterday, turning the spotlight on the ever-shifting landscape of China's elite.

It all started with Evergrande's stock price rising steadily, which propelled Xu Jiayin to the top of the list, making him the richest person in China with a net worth of $39.5 billion. But this lead didn't last long.

About a few hours later, Ma Huateng regained his position as the second-richest person in China after re-listing, pushing Xu Jiayin down to third place. Then, just when everyone thought the race was settled, Ma Yun made a surprising move.

With the U.S. stock market opening late at night in Beijing time, Alibaba's share price surged, allowing Ma Yun to surpass Ma Huateng and reclaim the title of China's richest man. By the end of the day, the throne of the richest person in China had changed hands three times—highlighting just how volatile the wealth rankings can be.

As of the closing of the U.S. stock market, Ma Yun remained at the top with a net worth of $39.1 billion, while Ma Huateng and Xu Jiayin followed closely behind with $38.9 billion and $38.7 billion respectively. Although they may still catch up, for now, Ma Yun holds the crown once again.
