The line lamp market is “surprise”, and most manufacturers just follow the trend?

In today's world, LED lighting has become a dominant force in countless applications—from traditional bulbs to panel lights, lamps, and downlights. Each of these products has carved out its own niche and gained a loyal following. As the industry continues to evolve, many companies are striving to become "single-product champions" in their specific fields. Some have achieved this status, while others are still pushing forward in the race for excellence. LED line lights, an emerging category, are gaining popularity not only for their modern aesthetic but also for their ease of installation. They are being widely adopted in residential, office, commercial, and industrial settings, offering versatile lighting solutions that create striking light and shadow effects. According to Li Xiaoxia, Director of Lemei Optoelectronics Marketing, "Linear lighting is the future direction of the lighting industry and can serve as a replacement for traditional office lighting." In the era of point light sources, lamp designs were limited in style. However, LED technology has allowed for more creative and flexible shapes, with metal lamp holders and light sources becoming highly integrated. Yet, as the market develops, consumer needs are becoming more diverse. Standardized designs can no longer meet individual preferences, which is why LED line lights are stepping into the spotlight. Pu, CTO of Shenzhen Wannaite Technology Co., Ltd., stated, “Line lights will be a key trend in office lighting over the next three years.” These line lights, built on simple linear forms, use creative design and spatial segmentation to offer sleek, minimalist looks and dynamic lighting effects. Their potential for future growth is promising, as they continue to redefine how we think about illumination. With the rising popularity of line lights, more manufacturers are entering the market. At recent trade shows, the Line Light Pavilion has drawn significant attention due to its personalized approach. Xue Zhenbo, General Manager of Shenzhen Sanwen Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., noted, “The line lamp market is still in its early stages. More and more companies are joining, but many lack quality products. Some just follow the trend without real innovation.” Li Xiaoxia added, “Some companies expand too quickly, opening production lines based on short-term trends. This often leads to quality issues. Companies need to understand the market, focus on their expertise, and adapt to demand through specialization.” Despite the influx of manufacturers, the variety of line lights has grown significantly, with over 300 styles now available. However, most share similar structures—primarily using “aluminum extrusion + extrusion lampshade” designs. These lampshades are not universal, leading to higher costs and limited light transmittance. Only 5% of products use the “aluminum extrusion + lens module” structure, offering better light control and anti-glare performance, but with less flexibility in customization. Pu admitted, “There’s a lot of repetition in the market. We don’t really need so many styles. Most manufacturers still rely on mass-produced ideas, leading to price wars. A small percentage focus on high-end office lighting or specialized line lights, which offer better service and quality.” The line lamp market is still in its early stages, and it hasn't yet reached explosive growth. Xue Zhenbo said, “Many customers are looking for samples, but large orders are still limited. The market is affected by pricing and global economic conditions.” While the market remains competitive, it's a critical test for manufacturers, especially smaller ones facing pressure from larger players. Xue Zhenbo suggested, “Differentiation and personalization are key. Small-scale, high-quality products can stand out, as big factories may struggle to replicate them. Our advantage lies in our strong aluminum factory, giving us better material control and cost efficiency.” Pu emphasized that line lights are not unique or essential—they can easily be replaced by downlights or spotlights. To succeed, manufacturers must focus on areas like installation, splicing, and lighting control. Online bar lights are quickly turning into commodity-like products, making brand building even more crucial. As the market evolves, the path forward for line light manufacturers requires innovation, quality, and a deep understanding of customer needs. It's a challenging but exciting time for the industry.
