I encountered an issue with a Konka color TV model T25SE073, where it would suddenly shut down with a high voltage short circuit sound. After disassembling, I found that the line tube was shorted, so I removed the high voltage package directly. The original high voltage package is BSC28-0637 (part number 30001472), but it's no longer available in stock. I replaced it with BSC28-0643 (30001712). The test unit’s screen works fine, but when connected to a signal, it enters a screen saver mode and shuts down after a few seconds to protect itself. Pressing the channel up or down button can restart it, but once on, it only shows the boot screen before shutting down again. However, the image appears normal when the screen is on. After checking the protection circuit thoroughly, I didn’t find any obvious issues. But I noticed many similar reports online about SE series TVs having various protection problems — from field protection circuits to standby circuits, high voltage detection, and lamp protection. Some of these include current-limiting resistors for the lamp. In this case, the resistance was changed from 1 ohm to 2.7 ohms. After checking the protection circuit, I tried changing the resistor to 2.2 ohms, and the TV has not shut down since. It seems like the problem was caused by the higher voltage and current of the new high-voltage package compared to the original one. I’ve attached some photos for reference. These images show the components involved and the process of replacement. This repair required careful analysis and testing to identify the root cause, which turned out to be related to the protection circuit settings. It’s a good reminder that even small component changes can have big impacts on system stability.
