On July 21st, Haval introduced its latest compact SUV, the Haval M6, which officially hit the market. Priced between 89,800 and 109,800 yuan, the Haval M6 offers five different models. Like its predecessor, the Haval M6 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. At first glance, this may sound quite familiar—because the new vehicle essentially uses the same powertrain as the older Haval H6. To put it simply, the Haval M6 can be seen as an updated version of the Haval H6.
The Haval M6 is marketed as a refreshed take on the H6, with its exterior design receiving significant updates to make it look like a completely new model. The car features a fresh design language, with a hexagonal grille design and raised hood lines creating a more aggressive and modern front profile. Additionally, the M6 adopts a floating roof design, giving it a sleeker and sportier appearance compared to the classic H6.
While the Haval M6 shares the same basic body structure as the H6, its dimensions remain largely unchanged. The car measures 4,649 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,705 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. This means the wheelbase remains identical to the previous H6 model, with only minor adjustments made to the overall dimensions.
Inside, the Haval M6 retains many of the same elements as the older H6, including the gearshift location, central control screen, and horizontal air vents. However, the new model comes equipped with several practical features such as a multifunctional leather steering wheel, anti-pinch electric sunroof, one-touch start, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic windshield wipers, automatic headlights, and power-adjustable driver’s seat. For safety, the vehicle includes an ESP body stability system, hill-start assist, hill descent control, a TPMS intelligent tire pressure monitoring system, a rearview camera, TCS traction control, RMI rollover prevention system, dual front airbags, and side airbags.
As for performance, the Haval M6 continues to use the same 1.5-liter turbocharged engine found in the older H6, producing 150 horsepower and delivering a peak torque of 210 Nm. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. Interestingly, even the suspension setup mirrors that of the older H6.
Overall, while the Haval M6 may share some similarities with its predecessor, it brings enough changes to the table to justify being considered a distinct offering. Whether these updates will resonate with consumers remains to be seen, but the M6 certainly presents itself as a more stylish and feature-rich alternative to the classic H6.
